    DESCRIPTION

    Friday Mixed League is a mixed league with fixed teams divided into four divisions of seven teams.  Games are at 5:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m with teams rotating between the draw times every week. Each team must be 2 men and 2 women and must alternate gender in the delivery of stones. A team may play with 3 players provided 2 players are regular team members. In the case of a team playing with 3 players, only the player delivering the last stone and the player acting as vice-skip must be the opposite gender.

    LEAGUE SETUP
    Friday Mixed League is divided into four divisions of seven teams. Initial ranking of teams is based on the divisions of last season. New teams to the league start in D Division regardless of skill level. Teams with at least two returning members are given the same spot of the previous season. At the end of each draw, teams are moved based on divisional standings.

    Points are awarded based on the following:

    'A' Division games: 5 points for a win, 2.5 points for a tie, 0 for a loss;
    'B' Division games: 4 points for a win, 2 points for a tie, 0 for a loss;
    'C' Division games: 3 points for a win, 1.5 points for a tie, 0 for a loss.
    'D' Division games: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 for a loss.

    Skips/Vices are responsible for recording the win/loss/tie on the CVCC website following conclusion of the game.

    At the end of the draw, the top team in Divisions B, C and D will move up to A, B and C respectively and the bottom team from A, B and C will drop to B, C and D respectively. Standings are based on total points accumulated for that draw.

    Wild card scenario: If at the end of the draw, the bottom 2 teams in the higher division have fewer points than the top 2 teams of the immediate lower division, the 2 bottom teams from the higher division will be moved to the lower division and the top 2 teams of the lower division will be moved to the higher division.

    During the season, when teams are tied for points, the tiebreaker will be as follows:

    • Total Wins
    • Head to Head match up for most recent draw between teams that are tied
    • Results from the draw to the button from the beginning of the season

    In the event of a tie to determine division champions, the final draw standings will be used as the first method to break the tie. If the teams are still tied, then the above methods will be used.

    Spares can play in any position.
    No more than two spares are allowed per game.
    Spares cannot be used by a team until the team has four paid-in-full members
    Teams looking for a spare should refer to the spares list at https://cityviewcurling.ca/index.php/member-s-home/league-information/sub-lists

    BELL RULE
    The buzzer will sound at 6:35pm, 8:35pm and 10:35pm which will signal that you complete the current end. An end will be considered started once the first rock of the end has crossed the near tee line during a slide. Please leave the ice as quickly as possible so that the ice technician can start prepping the ice for the next game.

    FUNDRAISING:

    GENERAL ETIQUETTE:

    Please remember to be respectful on the ice when curling. Touch brooms, offer "Good Curling" and introduce yourselves if necessary. During the game, stop moving and be quiet when the opponent is delivering his/her rocks. Please walk single file down the side of the ice and don’t block the thrower's view. Be in the hack and ready to throw your rock as soon as your opponent's rock has been released. Please ensure you give the opposing sweepers plenty of room when waiting for your team to throw your rocks.

    Do not rest your hands or knees on the ice. Only the third and skip should be behind the house. The second and lead should stand at the hog line. At the end of each end, only the thirds should be in the house to decide the score at which point rocks may be removed. After the game, shake hands and offer "good game." The winning team offers to buy the losing team their drinks (skip for skip, third for third, etc.). Losing team please reciprocate.

    No verbal abuse will be tolerated. Please treat ALL members (especially your spouses) with respect.

    GEAR:

    Shoes, sliders and grippers should be kept up-to-date. Some gear such as grippers show wear and tear after a while and can leave dirt on the ice which affects play (e.g. picks). There is a machine at the entrance to the ice where you can clean the bottom of your shoes each time you go out onto the ice. Each member should have their own broom, slider and/or stabilizer.
