Leagues

Day Men

A draw division. Games are scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Teams are drawn each week based upon who signs up to curl that week and on what day.  Members are guaranteed 2 games per week.  There is a Friday lunch during curling season and a golf schedule in the summer.  Half-year memberships are available for 3 consecutive months either October to December or January to March.

This division has draws on Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 8:50 and 1:00. The Match Committee draws teams 4 times a year at the beginning of each trophy round. This division is also involved in inter-club bonspiels during the year. Half-year memberships are available for 3 consecutive months either October to December or January to March.

At the end of each round teams will be ranked 1 to 16 based on total points accumulated up to that point in the season. The top 8 teams will start the next round in the A division, the bottom 8 teams will start the next round in the B division.

If two or more teams are tied at the end of a round, the tie breaking is as follows:

  1. head to head record over the course of the season
  2. fewest losses during the round
  3. number of points coming into the round
  4. coin toss

Points are awarded as follows:

  • 10 pts for a win in A and B division
  • 5 pts for a tie in A and B division

Please abide by the bell rule(no exceptions). When the bell goes finish the end you are on and one more(you should be off the ice by 10 to the hour). An end is deemed to be started once the first lead rock has crossed over the hog line.

Monday Evening Ladies

Overview:

The Monday Evening Fixed Ladies League was founded by Sharon Foley and Diane Harris in 1999 for competitive business ladies. The league has evolved to include a variety of working and retired curlers on fixed teams.  Games start at 5:00 with dinner served afterwards. Teams sign up for dinner duty each draw.  The league has a capacity for 9 teams.

Format: The season consists of two round robin draw and the third draw is a five week play off round. The league usually starts the week before Thanksgiving and runs for 23 week with each team getting a minimum of 20 games and three byes.

Rules: Etiquette and rules are governed by those set down by OCA.

Time rule is, finish current end plus one more when the buzzer goes.

Points are awarded as follows: Win - 10 points, Tie 5 points.

Ties are broken by head to head record, fewest losses, skips draw to the button or coin toss if necessary.

Season Winners are based on the total points accumulated over the season

Spares/ Free Agents: Individuals, who are not on a fixed team, can sign up their availability on the website. There is no limit on the number of times and individual can spare as long as they are replacing a fully paid member. Should a permanent spot become available, league fees or part fees may be needed. The spares are not restricted to a playing position.

Monday Open Cash

 

Dates: Every Monday night

Times: 7pm and 9:15pm

Format:
• 16 open fixed teams in two divisions (aka flights) with laddering system within each division
• 21 games guaranteed (3 rounds of 7 games) with no byes
• Flights alternate draw times within a round.
• First two weeks of a new round are for seeding (ie. all games are of equal value)
• Match values equal across both divisions for first 2 rounds while last round 'A' worth 50% more
• After each round 2 teams move up/down between divisions based on money won in that round
• Cash league ladder fee is paid per curler ($60) in addition to base league fees

•Team winnings paid out in cash after final game of regular season

Rules:
• Time rule is finish current end plus one more at 1h40min mark (buzzer/bell will ring)
• Ties are broken by a skip's draw to the button towards the glass
• In addition to club spare policy, a team may use up to 4 spares if participating in an curling event
• Late starting penalty is 1 end, 1 point, hammer and colour for non-offending team after 5 minutes, another end and a point after 20 minutes and a forfeit after 30 minutes

Engineering Curling League

Tuesday Engineering Curling League

The Engineering Curling League, has been in existence for 25 years, at the City View Curling Club. The semi-competitive league, began from a single firm competition, and has progressed to a multi-firm competition. The Engineering firms that are represented include; Parsons, Stantec, Nova-Tech, BTE, WSP. We play on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 and 7:00 pm. We're always looking for spares. Friday Mixed

A fixed team division with draws at 5:30; 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. There are 3 round of 6 games and Teams change game times each week. Teams will ultimately have two games at each time during the round. Dinner and snacks provided by teams on a schedule so that each team may be responsible for one dinner, and two snacks during the season. Capacity 28 teams.

Monday Learn to Curl

The 2017/2018 Learn to Curl season will begin in October 2017 for 10 weeks.  All sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The cost is $200 (plus HST) per participant. 

The program is open to both men and women, 19 years of age and up.

This is a 10 week program that begins on October 14th.  Men and women with no curling experience (or limited curling experience) are encouraged to register for this program. Sunday Youth (Little Rocks, Bantams, Juniors)

Our youth division supports the development of beginning and experienced curlers from ages 7 to 16 years old through our Little Rocks and Bantam programs. Coaching occurs on Sundays in two sessions (Session #1 - 11 am to 12:30 pm; Session #2 - 1 pm to 2:30 pm). This programs aims to provide a fun environment for children to learn the game, and provides opportunities for more competitive players. Capacity is 32 players and places go fast. The season runs from late October to April.
