    Sunday Open League Info

    Last updated: 20-Nov-2025

    DESCRIPTION

The Sunday Evening Open League is an "Open" league so any combination of males/females on a team is allowed.  There is one draw playing from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. There is a focus on sportsmanship.  No aggressive behaviour is tolerated. Games are 8 ends or until terminated by the buzzer.

The bell signals to finish the end you are in!

An end is deemed to have been completed once the final rock of the end has come to a rest. If this occurs before the bell sounds, you may begin another end.  The bell goes off at 9:05pm. Teams must vacate the ice by 9:45pm.

    LEAGUE SETUP

The six teams play in a single division with a round robin format.

    Points are awarded as follows:

    • 2 pts for a win
    • 1 pts for a tie
    • 0 pts for a loss/forfeit

Skips/Vices are responsible for recording the win/loss/tie on the CVCC website following conclusion of the game.

    SPARING

Please try and field a team and not default your game. You can use up to 2 or 3 spares as long as one of your regular team members is in the lineup.  A spare may play any position including skip. Ideally, the fourth rock thrower is a regular member of the team, but not necessary. Spares should come from the spares list before other curlers are approached. If you reschedule/forfeit, then PLEASE contact your opponent ASAP, and notify the league rep.  If 4 spares are used in order to avoid forfeiting the game, the team with 4 spares will not earn points for the win.

Everyone who has already registered for a league or joined as a "Spare Member" can spare in this league. "Youth Members" must be 14 or older..   Non-members of CVCC can spare (refer to https://cityviewcurling.ca/index.php/member-s-home/other/frequently-asked-questions/691-can-non-members-spare). Teams looking for a spare should refer to the spares list at https://cityviewcurling.ca/index.php/member-s-home/league-information/sub-lists with a preference given to Learn to Curl curlers.
