Teams / Sparing
-
The deadline to commit your team is March 21. Teams committing after that date may be placed on a waiting list.
-
Team rosters are locked as of now - exceptions can be made for injuries or other exceptional circumstances, please discuss with your league coordinator.
-
Players can only play or spare with one team per division (exception: you may play with a second team in the same division if you are on the roster for both teams). For clarity, you cannot spare for a team in the same division after you are eliminated with your regular team.
Explanation:We originally implemented the one team per division limit in order to ensure as many people get to play as possible during playoff time - we all pay for the ice time.
While we are still supportive of this principle, which is why the spare limit rule is still in place, we do want teams to be able to play with their original teammates in the playoffs. Note: accommodations will not be made if your teams are scheduled to play at the same time.
Sparing
-
Spares must be registered on an evening open or Tuesday social league team.
-
No more than 2 spares may be used per game. Spares must throw in the lowest position(s) available (lead if using 1 spare, lead and second if using 2 spares), although a spare may call the game.
Qualification
There are four playoff brackets teams can participate in:
Club Championship: All teams from the Draw 5 A Division from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Open and the top overall remaining team from evening open leagues.
Open: All remaining teams from Draw 5 B Division from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Open and the top overall remaining teams from evening open leagues to complete the bracket.
Rec Championship: All remaining teams from Draw 5 C Division from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Open, the top 3 teams from Tuesday social league, and the top overall remaining teams to complete the bracket.
Rec Open: All remaining Draw 5 Division D teams and Tuesday Social teams.
If a team withdraws from the A or B division playoffs, the next team with the most overall points from any evening league will be invited to play. If a team withdraws from the C and D divisions, the coordinators may move teams between divisions in order to ensure fairness and maximum participation within the club.
Note: Because of the changes to the player eligibility rules this year, we will no longer accommodate requests to go up or down divisions.
Format
-
Each playoff bracket will be a single game knock-out.
-
Tiebreaker: All round of 16, quarterfinal and semifinal games will be decided by shots to the button. Finals will play an extra end (rocks to be thrown towards the glass).
-
Game duration: All Club Championship games (A Division) are 8 ends or until one team concedes. The bell rule is not in effect. Please keep up the pace of play. League/playoff coordinators may implement a time limit to games should teams not be keeping pace.
For all other divisions, all games are up to 8 ends. The bell rule remains in effect for these games.
